Volunteer Chef Program

Community Roots Garden’s Volunteer Chef Program pairs at-risk youth with older volunteer chefs to cook delicious, simple meals for an average of 20-25 Saturday volunteers using Garden vegetables and fruits.

When the program started, not many youth wanted to work in the kitchen, but now it’s the most popular volunteer position for all the youth who work with us! More than anything, it teaches cooking skills and provides one-on-one mentoring opportunities for young people who really need it.

To volunteer one Saturday as a volunteer chef, call 805-616-2326 or email communityrootsgarden@gmail.com.
